This custom made necklace is considered a Medicine or Spirit necklace because of the nature of the materials used. The arrow head is hand knapped from obsidian: a volcanic glass that is considered by almost all North American tribes to be sacred and includes the person's name and "Spirit Animal." This makes the necklace a powerful healing and protective talisman. The beads were cooperatively selected between the artist and client after explaining the "medicine" values of each.

Turquoise also is considered sacred by many Native Cultures. The long round beads are hand made of bone and dyed using traditional plant dyes.
