IP Address Routing

Tips

This is slightly unrelated to the topic of IP Routing but the possibility exists that your Networking configuration is insecure and/or you are leaking some Netbios information. I recommend that you visit a set of web pages created by Steve Gibson for the purpose of making sure your Internet configuration is optimally configured for your privacy and security.

I suggest checking your routing table to determine if it holds for long periods of time. In my testing the routing table lasted until the next reboot, but there could be configuration scenarios where the routing table needs to be refreshed.

There is a nice freeware utility I wish to share with you for looking up IP addresses and names called  Winmag.com URL Discombobulator by Karen Kenworthy. You might find it a handy accessory to use with your routing table for looking up the names of the IP addresses.

You can redirect the routing table display to a file. The MS-DOS command to use would be:

C:\anyfolder>route print >anyname.txt

You might find this very useful when your routing table gets bigger than the output on the screen.
