About
Calorie_List.PDB and Food_Items.PDB
for the Palm or Sony Cliè‚

Calorie_List.PDB and Food_Items.PDB contain the calorie content and other facts about various food items.

They both give information on Food Type, Serving Size, Fat Grams, Calories, Carbohydrate Grams, Protein Grams, Cholesterol Mg, Weight in Grams, Saturated Fat in Grams. The information was taken from the packaging for these items in most cases. These databases are updated occationally as new items are added to my own Palm. I don't update the Calorie_List.PDB as often as I now use the the Food_Items.PDB most of the time.

The Calorie_List.PDB can be found here:

http://pcexpress.theolddub.com/TheToolBag/CoolAdons4PalmOS/Jfile4_DB/Calorie_List.PDB

Calorie_List.PDB database works on the Palm or other devices running the Palm OS. Also provided is a free Palm application version of JfilePro.PRC. This is a fully functional version of JfilePro. It will come up on the Palm as Jfile4 and is used to access all the files found in the http://pcexpress.theolddub.com/TheToolBag/CoolAdons4PalmOS/Jfile4_DB/ area. JfilePro.PRC can be found here:

http://pcexpress.theolddub.com/TheToolBag/CoolAdons4PalmOS/Jfile4_DB/JfilePro.PRC

If you ave a newer version of JfilePro on your Palm, these databases should work with it as well. Versions 4 and 5 share a common format.

If you don't own a Palm an HTML version of the Calorie List database can also be found here: http://pcexpress.theolddub.com/TheToolBag/InformationGrabBag/Calorie_List.HTM

This version of the Calorie List is only updated on an occasional biases and may not contain all the items found in the Palm version.

Food_Items.PDB is a data base made from the original Calorie_List.PDB but contains additionally information. Besides the calorie content Food_Items.PDB contains more facts about various food items.

It gives information on Food Type, Serving Size, Fat Grams, Calories, Carbohydrate Grams, Protein Grams, Cholesterol Mg, Weight in Grams, Saturated Fat in Grams and where possible Sodium in Mg and Fiber in Grams have been added. The information was taken from the packaging for these items in most cases. This database is updated regularly as new items are added to my own my Palm. This DB replaces the original Calorie_List.PDB.

The Food_Items.PDB can be found here:

http://pcexpress.theolddub.com/TheToolBag/CoolAdons4PalmOS/Jfile4_DB/Food_Items.PDB

Both Databases are open and you can add to them with the foods that you like to eat. There is an additional DB that I use to keep track of my own caloric data, My_Daily_Calories.PDB. This is an empty DB and is available in the same place as all the other data bases and information.

There is also a converter "PDB2CSV.exe," to convert your PDB to CVS which can be read by an XL spread sheet. There is a file called "ConvertMyDailyCalories2CVS.PIF," that when placed in the same directory as "My_Daily_Calories.PDB" is used with the convertion program to automatically convert your daily calorires to CVS. A few short cuts on your desk top and you're ready to count calories. As you add data and backup your Palm to your PC you'll find the backup area for your Palm stores the "My_Daily_Calories.PDB" as in the example.
Examples:
"C:\Palm\Joe\Backup\My_Daily_Calories.PDB"
or in the case of a Sony Cliè‚
"C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\Joe\Backup\"My_Daily_Calories.PDB"

The DBs and other information can be found here:
